Deer Mouse The Deer Mouse is a similar creature to the House Mouse, but sports a distinctive light brown coat on its back and a white belly (just like a deer). The Deer Mouse is most infamous as being a potential carrier of Hanta Virus. In northern regions of Oakville, Scarborough, Markham, Vaughan, the Deer Mouse is a common pest. Hanta Virus is rare and has not occurred south of Peterborough, but is serious and in many cases leads to death in Humans. Hanta Virus is airborne and is usually associated with the disturbance of Deer Mouse nests and fecal matter. Deer Mouse control is similar to House Mouse control.
