Mosquitoes Perhaps the most well known member of the Order Diptera and family Culicidae is the Mosquito. These pesky harbingers of summer are one of the most widespread biting flies world over. As vectors of disease, Mosquitoes account for millions of human deaths around the world each year. Yellow Fever, Encephalitis, Malaria and West Nile Virus are among humanity's worst nightmares. Female mosquitoes bite humans and other mammals, and, once they have had a blood meal, begin to lay hundreds of eggs, that will turn into larva and then, eventually, adult flying blood suckers. Mosquitoes ruin outdoor events, holidays and work sites and are most active during the hours of dawn and dusk. Green control of mosquitoes has been at the forefront of a major Public Health initiative over the past years in North America to control the spread of West Nile Virus. Larviciding and other forms of environmental intervention are at the leading edge of this effort; All-Pest Control operates a large West Nile Virus Program June through September for industrial, commercial and residential customers.
